We thankfully had a lot of help with staining our trim for the new house and painting the kids bedrooms. It was my turn for kid duty so we decorated some cupcakes. It was a big mess, but I think everyone had fun.

This is the house so far. The pictures don't really do it justice, so we are hoping for a lot of company once we are all settled in so you can see it in person. : ) The drywall will be finished within the next couple of weeks, we hope, then on to the painting.

Here is the house with shutters and siding on the front. The drywall is going to be hung this week and will be finished within the next three weeks hopefully. We are keeping our fingers crossed for a mild winter this year!

Okay trying to get all the grandkids to look at the camera at the same time is near to impossible. We did the best we could. This is the first time in many years that the whole family was together in the same place at the same time. It was a very special day.

We are starting to see some progress on our house. Within two days the house was framed. Today they planned on putting the roof on, so hoping to get some pictures later this afternoon of that. Its very exciting to see it coming along.

The kids all had a lot of fun this year with carving pumpkins. We let them all get in and messy. Matthew didn't want to stop putting his hand inside the pumpkin and Kristen was pretty grossed out.

Trick or Treating was a big success although we missed our usual fellow trick or treaters.

The kids all really enjoy going to the shore, so we try to go once or twice a summer. Its about a 4 hour drive to the Jersey shore or we would probably go more often. Ben and Kristen ask about every other day "How many days until we go to the beach?"

This summer we took a tour of Red Lobster with the MOMS club. Ben and Kristen enjoyed making shrimp scampi, popcorn shrimp and biscuits and we all enjoyed eating yummy Red Lobster food, for breakfast.

Ben and Kristen love to "paint" the driveway. They will spend hours outside with old paintbrushes and a couple of buckets of water just painting everything in sight with water. Avery and Zoe joined in the fun last week.

We need to improve our driveway out to our field where our house will be built so we had a 36 inch tile delivered and are waiting for the backhoe guy to come put it in. Our kids think this is the greatest toy ever. They love to crawl through it and over it. Too bad that it was laying in some poison oak, unfortunately both Kristen and Ben show signs of coming in contact with poison, although neither one are complaining about it much. We will have two very disappointed kids when the tile gets put in the ground. Kristen was napping when I had the camera out, but here are some pictures of the boys.

Once again I'm playing catch up getting pictures of the kids on here. We have been very busy as usual. I have been watching my nieces Avery and Zoe 2-3 days a week while their normal caregiver has been away. The kids have all had a lot of fun playing together. Josh and I have been trying to get the house organized and painted so that we can put it up for sale around May. Ben Kristen and Matthew are all glad that Spring has arrived and play outside every chance they get. Matthew is starting to walk. He will take 6-8 steps at a time before deciding that its just quicker to crawl.

Kristen got a hold of a red stamp. I think she stamped everywhere except on paper.

Josh's family rented a house in Deep Creek, MD for the week of Thanksgiving. Josh's brother, Charlie Kerr is in the work in Kentucky and we haven't been able to see him for about 2 years. It was nice for him to be able to spend time with us, especially some of his neices and nephews he hadn't seen yet.

Ben all dressed up for his fall feast. His preschool sang a song for the parents and helped to make their snack for the day. They made a fruit salad and Ben was especially proud of the butter they made themselves by taking turns shaking a jar of cream until it turned into butter.

We were very excited to be able to go home to Washington for about 10 days. We had a great time with the family and friends that we were able to see. We started the trip off by staying at Fort Columbia in Scarborough house. It used to be a hospital when the fort was in opperation. My grandparents and aunt Kathy, Uncle Donny, CC and aunt Debbie were able to come stay with us there. We even were able to spend half a day at the beach without it raining on us.

Ben started preschool today and will be going Tuesday and Thursday mornings for 2 and a half hours. So far he is really enjoying it. Kristen didn't even miss him too much. I was thankful that Ben just ran off to play with the toys and didn't bawl like one little boy did long after his mom left. It made it so much easier on me. : )

These two pictures were of trick or treat night. As I said, its hard to get Kristen to look at the camera, but you get the general idea. The kids were both really into Trick or Treating this year, which made it fun for us too.

We went to a Halloween Pary with the MOMS club. It was fun to see all the little ones dressed up. Ben liked his tiger costume. Kristen wasn't too impressed with having to wear her fairy pumpkin wings so they didn't last very long.

Kristen's birthday isn't until July 17th, but we decided to celebrate a week early since my parents were here. Kristen had a great time and really enjoyed the frosting on her cake. I don't think she even tasted the actual cake. She definitely isn't her mama's girl. I am not a frosting person. We had lots of cousins and friends over to play with. A good time was had by all.

My friend Kim and I joined a MOMS group. (Moms offering moms support) The group plans outings several times a month to various kid friendly places. Yesterday we went to a Dairy farm. Ben had a blast. He is going to be siding with daddy that we need some cows.

Kristen has started to pull herself up to the couch and other furnishings. She is so proud of herself. The other day she was 3/4 of the way up the stairs before we realized what she was up to. Needless to say, the gate is back up.
We had quite a chilly, windy Easter egg hunt. But that didn't stop Ben from enjoying it or the candy.

We seeded the grass and needed to put straw down. Ben thought it was the greatest game ever. He was daddy's big helper.

Kevin Hanks was able to come to the states for a visit. We were fortunate to be able to meet up with him and his older brother Scott. Scott is in the work in West Virginia, so we met them down there.

Kristen is excited to be a big girl and able to play with brother in the bath. She doesn't even need the seat anymore. They grow so fast!

Ben had a lot of fun with CC, Heather Massey's daughter. CC and Don and Kathy came to see us for a three day weekend. It was great to see them again.

I apologize, February was a bad picture taking month. My camera ran out of batteries and I just now replaced them. We took the kids to Zoo America in Hershey, PA on Valentines Day. It was a cold day, but Ben had fun. Kristen slept the whole time. Josh started a new job today. We are hoping that he likes it. I'm happy because he won't be traveling with this job. We had a terrible wind storm and the roof blew off our pole barn. Josh is working on replacing the roof with some help from his cousin.

Snow Day

We heard we were supposed to get 4-8 inches of snow and then some ice. Of course we only got 3 inches or so, but we did get the ice on top. Just enough so that the snow isn't fun to play in. Ben did get out and "helped" mommy and daddy shovel the driveway while Kristen napped. I found a shovel Ben's size at a moving sell. He loved to carry it around, but didn't shovel any snow with it. Of couse the ice made the snow extra heavy.

We had a great trip home for Thanksgiving. We ended up leaving a day earlier than planned, which was nice. We are lucky in that Kristen loves her swing. When I need to be doing something other than entertain her, she is content to swing for quite a while. It is one of her favorite places to fall asleep as well. She is just a calmer baby all around than Ben was. Thank goodness!

Kristen is starting to smile. Here I just missed a full blown smile. The camera is just not fast enough. : ) Ben really loves his little sister and likes to give her hugs and talk to her.

It is so hard to believe but Ben is now 2. His birthday was Sept 5th and we had family and friends over for pizza and cupcakes to celebrate on the 6th. Ben had great fun opening his presents and blowing out the candles. He was very excited about his new trike. Now he just needs to master the peddling so mommy and daddy don't have to push him everywhere, although it is great exercise.

Everyone asks how Ben is doing with his sister. Truth be told he pretty much acts like nothing is new. He has been suprisingly tolerant about sharing his mommy. It helps that he is very much a daddy's boy. As you can see in the last picture, he had to be bribed to hold his sister with a chocolate which he is holding in his left hand.

Welcome Kristen Marie Kerr

We are the proud parents of a beautiful baby girl. Kristen Marie was born at 7lbs 13.5 oz, and 19.25 inches long. She was born at 1121 on July 17th.

We just came home this morning and are adjusting well. We are so glad to be out of the hospital and home with big brother Ben. Ben thinks Kristen is cute but I'm sure he doesn't realize what a big change she will bring to his life yet. Grandpa and Grandma are flying in tomorrow night. We are looking forward to their help.

Sorry, I guess I'm just a once a month updater. We have a c section scheduled for July 17th at 10:30a. So only 10 more days until we get to meet our baby! We can hardly wait.

In the mean time we have been busy doing things with Ben. We went camping again for the 4th. But only one night because we were rained out. Yes rain for the 4th of July. We did have a nice day to take Ben to Lake Tobias which is a petting zoo, wildlife park fairly close to home. He had a great time feeding crackers to various animals.

Memorial Day Weekend, New Jersey Shore

For Memorial Day weekend we headed to the New Jersey Shore. We had a great time with perfect weather in the 70's. Too cold for swimming but nice for playing on the beach. Ben loved his first camping adventure. He was able to be outdoors 24 hours a day!

We took Ben to the playground at the lake one day too. His favorite part was climbing up and down the steps. You would think he would want to be on the swings or slide, but not our Ben.

We met cousin Della for supper one night. She is now a first grader. She thought her cousin was pretty cute.

A trip to the zoo

Josh and I took Ben to the Hershey Zoo. The zoo features North American animals so unfortunately it didn't have anything exciting like monkeys, but Ben still had fun. It was nice to get out and enjoy the sunshine.

One of Ben's favorite passtimes is putting together his two wood puzzles. Sometimes his frustration can be heard throughout the house, but it does keep him occupied for long lengths of time. Avery loves to play with the fire truck. She also took over he aunt Becky's scarf.

Well we got another snow/ice storm over the last few days. I finally bundled Ben up and took him outside to brave the cold for a short while. He loved it until he fell down, then the snow was too cold for him. We are really ready for Spring now.

Ben is the newest family book worm. He loves for mommy and daddy to read to him. Sometimes he just likes to read outloud to himself. I wish I had a recording of him "reading" but I guess pictures will have to do.

Avery and Ben do plenty of fighting over toys, whatever the other one has is more fun than what they are playing with. I actually caught them playing together peacefully on camera just to prove it is possible. : )

New Years Day we actually celebrated Christmas with Josh's two sisters and their families. It was nice to have every one together again. Ben has a lot of fun playing with his cousins.

Ben borrowed a sleeper from Avery Christmas Eve. Doesn't he look cute in purple? It matches the black eye he got when he crawled at full speed into a foot stool. I think the pink flowers are a bit much for a boy, but he was too young to care. I'm sure we would hear about it in a few years.

Trying to get the toy out of the packaging is always a big ordeal. It took all three of us.

We had a quiet Christmas Day. Ben opened his presents from us and Grandpa and Grandma Langdon on Christmas morning. Aunt Tara, Uncle Kevin and cousin Avery came and spent the day with us. We had a Christmas feast and played some games. It was a nice relaxing day.

We had a ice storm again this weekend. This time I actually took some pictures. Most of these are taken from our yard. The tree over the power lines is about 1/2 a mile down the road. Sure wish we had snow instead, but it was pretty.

We went to the mall to meet up with Uncle Jon, Courtney and cousin Della. Ben had a lot of fun in the play area.
